The saying goes, “Bald is beautiful,” and for those who have chosen to embrace their natural baldness, it’s a statement that holds a world of truth. The decision to go bald can be a bold and empowering choice, and it’s one that’s becoming increasingly popular.

From celebrities to everyday individuals, a growing number of people are shedding their hair and wearing their bald heads with pride.

But what does it take to be bald and look good while exuding confidence? In this blog article, we’ll explore the art of embracing the bald look and offer practical tips and advice on how to rock the bald style with poise and self-assurance.

Whether you’re considering going bald or you’ve already made the leap, this guide is your go-to resource for achieving a head-turning, confident bald appearance.

Managing your body

Making the right decision

When you start losing your hair, you can of course try a treatment to limit the loss. But when there’s no longer enough to style your hair with dignity, you need to make the right decision. Staying in an in-between situation is not a good thing: neither for your style, nor for your morale.

Cutting it all off may come as a shock for the first few days, but it’s also a form of relief and self-affirmation. You’ve made a choice, bravo! Since I was 25, I’ve been cutting my hair every 2-3 days, as short as possible. It didn’t happen overnight, but it was from that decision that I began to regain my self-confidence.

While we can hardly count on a change of hairstyle to change our appearance, our facial hair allows us to be a little more creative. The beard craze has given many people the opportunity to add a little volume to their facial hair.

And I have to admit, it’s an aesthetically pleasing solution, as it helps to re-create a certain balance. I’ve been a fan of the 3-day beard for several years now. I feel really naked without it, I feel I have too much smooth skin.

However, I don’t plan to let my beard grow much longer. Personally, I find it hard to get past the point where the beard grows without itching. But clearly, I find that being bald and having a beautiful beard is something that works very well!

Be physically at your best

When you have hair, looking good and having an athletic body can be seen as “a bonus”. Now consider that it’s essential! Being bald makes our skin more visible. It’s easy enough to see this when you have a matte complexion or tanned skin; on the other hand, when you have white skin, it’s less obvious.

This can reinforce the feeling of looking sick and generate even more remarks about your whiteness. And unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about it, apart from taking the risk of over-exposing yourself to the sun or, even worse, to UV cabins. The best solution is to get some fresh air as often as possible to make sure you look your best!

You can walk, run, do any outdoor or indoor activity – sport generally helps us look better! It also helps to build a more athletic build that will erase that sickly look and make us more attractive, more confident, more dynamic. It’s good for your morale, it’s good for your health – all reasons why taking up sport is bound to be a good idea!

What are the best pieces to wear when you’re bald?

The general principle is to choose clothes and accessories that break up the oval of our silhouette by creating vertical lines with lapels on a jacket, or horizontal lines with glasses, for example. This also helps us focus less on our bald head.

And while it’s no longer possible to change your haircut to change your look, clothes and accessories allow us to change our style, a good reason to take an even greater interest in fashion 😉

Clothing

When you’re a student, the t-shirt is probably the garment you wear most with jeans. The first thing to remember is that V-neck t-shirts are preferable to round-neck ones, as their shape will visually break up the roundness of your skull.

The polo shirt is also a very interesting piece because its collar creates vertical lines on our silhouette and brings an extra degree of elegance. And for the same reasons, the shirt will become one of our favorite pieces.

Thanks to its collar, it frames our face better and reduces the surface area of visible skin. In winter, a turtleneck sweater helps to visually frame our bald head.

Wearing a suit jacket or blazer over it not only looks elegant but also visually breaks up the roundness of the skull, thanks to the lapels. The same principle applied to coats leads to the caban, which, with its collar and lapels, enhances the silhouette.

What’s more, it’s a timeless piece, making it a good investment! For a more adventurous look, you can also opt for a leather jacket… with a collar! Now you’re getting the hang of it 😉 But beware of military-style Bombers, if you know what I mean!

Accessories

Accessories allow everyone to add an extra element of style and a point of interest other than our bald heads. So we’re interested in headwear (everything from bonnets to caps and hats). For both aesthetic and practical reasons.

In winter, when you’ve got more hair, you’ll also find that it keeps the cold out! But be careful not to overdo it either. You can’t fool anyone by wearing a hat; it should remain an accessory. Inside, you need to know how to take it off.

Especially when it’s hot, otherwise you’ll be sweating profusely (not classy at all). And, as with your choice of clothes, you really have to choose quality over quantity. You don’t need 36 different hats. Most of the time, we wear the same gray felt hat or brown tweed cap.

So we might as well invest in beautiful pieces that will be worthy of interest! And a fine wool hat or cap is often worth around 100$.

Glasses are also a very interesting accessory! They create another focal point, break up the smooth shape of a mane-free skull and visually reduce the surface area of skin.

So, if you need corrective lenses, opt for glasses rather than contacts, and pay particular attention to the choice of lenses so that their shape matches that of your face, your nose, the height of your eyebrows, and so on.

The same applies, of course, to sunglasses, which we all wear for part of the year. And let’s not forget the watch!

Wearing a pretty watch on your wrist brings an extra degree of elegance, which can then draw the eye away from your skull. The same goes for a clutch bag in your breast pocket.

Colors and contrasts

When you’re bald, it’s even more important to take your skin color into account when dressing, because your skin is more visible. As a white-skinned person, I’ve learned over time which colors make the most of me: brown, blue and gray, for example, have replaced black.

I’ve added touches of camel, orange and burgundy to my choice of accessories. Using dark, warm colors on light skin, or pale, cool colors on dark skin, recreates the contrast that our hair no longer offers with our skin.

Eyes are also very important, so it’s best to go for colors that match them. And since it’s a mistake we’ve all made, it’s worth remembering that choosing the right size of garment goes a long way towards improving our figure. In particular, the seam of our shirt should stop where our shoulder stops (and not fall back over it).

Find your style

When you lose your hair, you look older; that’s obvious! Even in your twenties. And the more time goes by, the more illusory it is to think you’ll look younger by staying dressed as you were in high school!

Perhaps sooner rather than later, it’s best to fully embrace the fact that you’ve entered the adult world and adopt a more mature style. Armed with a shirt, a blazer and a nice pair of shoes, you’ll be ready to become a new man.

Don’t be afraid to be elegant – you’ll rarely be criticized for it. As long as you adopt the right degree of elegance to your surroundings. In the evening or at weekends, you can wear a Jason Statham-style leather jacket or a pea coat with the collar turned up to look like a real sailor.

Generally speaking, opting for a very masculine, bad-boy look is something that works well when you have an athletic physique!

In any case, it’s important to take responsibility for yourself and for what you’re wearing, a bit like Antho, the other bald man on the Truck team and style boss.

To find your style, you can simply take inspiration from people who look like you. We’ll analyze how the pieces we’ve chosen suit them, appreciate certain looks, try to reproduce them with clothes we already own or are looking to acquire, get inspired again, try adding an accessory, and so on.
